12 people were shot at a Youngstown, Ohio, last night near the Youngstown State University (YSU) campus.  One person is dead.  YSU President, Cynthia Anderson was at the hospital this morning to meet with injured students and their families.

Another day, another mass shooting in the USA.

Naomii Miklic, 15, of Fultonville, NY, was shot dead Monday evening while she was driving.  Justin Dibble, 18, has been arrested and charged with 2nd-degree manslaughter.  Dibble was in the back seat of the car when the gun was fired.

Joel Sheehy, 21, son of Nebraska Lt. Governor, Rick Sheehy, accidentally shot himself in the face Wednesday night while handling his 9-mm Glock in his apartment.  He is expected to be okay.  He is reported to have taken hunter’s safety classes.  Luckily, the bullet did not kill someone in an adjoining apartment.  Being the son of the Lt. Governor, it is unlikely that he will be charged with discharging a firearm in a dwelling or reckless endangerment.

By the way, can you accidentally beat someone to death with a tire iron?

Two brothers in Bellevue, WA, got in an argument over a video game Monday, when the 16-year-old pulled out a gun and shot his 12-year-old brother in the face.  The victim is expected to survive.

16-year-olds aren’t supposed to have guns, but getting one is this country is easier than buying Sudafed – literally!  On the other hand, gun advocates claim that all citizens need a gun to protect themselves.  16-year-olds are citizens too.

An elementary school principal, Sam LaCara, 50, was shot dead at his school yesterday.  The school is Louisiana Schnell Elementary School in Placerville, CA.  The suspected gunman is John Luebbers, 43, one of the school custodians.  It is believed that at least one student witnessed the shooting.

Another school, another shooting.  Life as usual in the USA.

Aaron Schmidt, 14, has been charged with murder in the shooting death of Alana Calahan, 14, after her body was found in a wooded area behind her home in Augusta, GA yesterday.  There are no additional details about the shooting at this time.
